Can also add that three more faults are solved on my old ML. Last week I replaced the rear sam unit (with the new I bought several years ago), and took it tho a garage to programme it. So now the heating in the rear window works, the left break light works, and the hatch finally opens fully up 
It turned out however, that only the heated window was relatet to the sam unit 
The left break light fault was because I had mounted the bulb slightly crooked, and the hatch problem was just a setting in the car`s menu. It is clearly possible to go in to the car`s menu on the wheel and choose a "garage setting" for the hatch, and in that modus it will only open half way. I still wonder how I managed to choose that setting...
So now the car works better than it has in a long time. But of course, there is always something. The next day I discovered that the electrical seat was totally dead. At first I thought it might be a broken fuse, but then I realized that the mechanic at the shop might have done a little mistake in the programming of the sam. We`ll see.
