If it makes you feel any better. Ordered a brass shifter bushing and a shifter plate from them August 23rd and still don't have any of it. That's with a call every other week. 

Saturday:  I received a video of the car idling on the dyno

20 minutes later, “your fans aren’t coming on”. I ignored that since the fans worked when I gave them the car AND when I had it for a few days.  That’s on them, though I couldn’t help but thinking, “how hot did they get it?”  Worth noting, he’s told me more than twice “she’s good to go. You don’t have to wait for the dyno if you don’t want to”
 

Sunday:  he’s diagnosing the fan issue. 
An hour later, “the cars pushing coolant. We may have overheated it.  It’s not worth diagnosing. I’m going to put in a new engine”. 
 

i berkeleying hate this shop.

So on top of the E36 M3ty miata news, the Crown Vic took a pretty hard hit on Saturday night.  I had offered it to Britt to drive again to try for redemption after the last outing.  Somehow things went even worse!  He got pinched up into the wall on lap 1.  :(

the whole RF front suspension is berkeleyed along with the radiator support and battery.  He’s offered to buy it for only a bit less than what I have into it, so I think it’s going to live with him.  The car is not the sought after year range and it’s not a P71 either, so no real shot at running up front in the class.  If I ever get the urge to go back out there, I’ll grab one of the many already built cars that come up for sale with the ideal specs. 
 

the cars been an absolute tank for me.  2 years of Firm rallyx while SXS’s weren’t allowed and tons of circle track fun, including running at 2 tracks that have since been demolished.  It doesn’t owe me anything.  And being in Britt’s possession, I could see possibly getting to drive it again at Lemons or elsewhere.  

Just caught up with the Fab9 saga. Hate that you’re getting boned. 

Next expected update: the property was foreclosed upon and everything hauled away….

Since we're sharing - I sort of assumed that the car "moving the dyno" meant it had flown off and they were scrambling to un-smush it. Not sure if that would be better or worse than them overheating the damn thing so bad it needs a new engine.

I just can't believe how nonchalant this guy is with his customers.  What an absolute jerk.  I will never do business with this company and I'm in the 2.5 swap space.  

I’m very much wishing I had just undertaken the project myself.  The “3 day turnaround” was so appealing.  😂😂 what a joke!

They have a local source that supplies them “low mileage” 2.5s by the truck load.  I saw 4 or 5 on pallets while I was there. 

Likely one of the pro's from the pic n pull.  Right now, there are 22 Fusions at my local U Pull & Pay.  

Well, to play devil’s advocate, they immediately said they were going to replace the engine.  I would have preferred if they had called first to discuss since who knows if you’re ok with a used engine, but much better than them trying to put it on you or wanting to split the cost or any number of other things they could have done. 
 

I am very sorry to hear about this debacle.  It’s a mess for sure!

also quite the bummer about the crown vic….  But your friend sounds like a good guy to offer to buy it and at a price that seems reasonable

The engine they already installed for me (and then overheated) is also one of these low mileage 2.5 junkyard units.  So the “new” one shouldn’t be any better or worse than the original install.  
 

Britt is already talking about running the Vic at Lemons!  lol.  He’s also in the process of building a Corolla wagon for Lemons.  We’re looking to run Carolina Motorsports Park and Houston for 2026. 

Wow.  Manual 128’s are not easy to come by!  I’ve shot out a couple messages to cars in GA and AL but I’m really liking this deep black one that’s only 1/2 hour away from me.  Seller answered a couple questions initially but has gone silent since asking her when/where I can check it out.  She says interior is perfect and a/c blows cold.  I’d trade those 19s for some 18 or 17s but it looks real nice.  My usual cash envelope photo isn’t working for this unresponsive seller.
