Well now I want a 328i on coil-overs. ![]()

First real trip after putting Koni coil-overs on our BMW 328i? How about some 3000 miles?
First stop: Watkins Glen, New York, about 1000 miles north of our Florida base for our Classic Motorsports Empire State Tour. The tour added another 600 miles to the trip–fun, curvy roads, I might add–before heading south to Roanoke, Virginia. Once there, we explored the area preparing for June’s Classic Motorsports Shenandoah Valley Tour.

Then, finally, back home to Florida.
During the entire trip, we didn’t even need to add a quart of oil. No mechanical issues at all.
So, our new Koni GTS coil-overs? They felt great through the twisty back roads of the Appalachian Mountains: confident and responsive without even coming close to beating us up.
We had a few hard hits while passing through some construction zones and on the torn-up streets of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, but overall, we’re very impressed with the Koni setup. For our needs, the occasional bump can be forgiven considering the handling upgrade.

Now, if only the car had a bit more power. The stock zero-to-60 times in the low-6-second range are perfectly adequate for a daily driver. The passing time from 50 to 70 mph takes a bit too long for our tastes and for safe passing, though.
So, we have some modifications planned that should solve this problem and make this car the perfect, budget performance sedan.
I put BC Racing coil overs on my Solstice GXP years ago - adjustable for firmness and height , excellent build quality and fair pricing. Also did a couple of frame stiffeners and sway bars. Took it on a trip that included long sweeping corners through the forest and drove it at a comfortable speed. Looked down and I was doing 100 mph through a long sweeping corner with good feedback from the road and no reason to think I was going that fast until I looked down at the speedo. Recommended and at a lower than Koni price (I've also used Konis on a couple of my cars and they deserve their great reputation).
Torn up streets of Lancaster...when I lived in that area, I kid you not, when the news crews wanted to talk about how bad the roads were somewhere (snowfall, ice, etc.), they were always in or near Lancaster. Never in York or Harrisburg; always in Lancaster.
PA only has two seasons - winter & road construction.
