Hi, new to the forum.

I just started getting into cars as a hobby this past year. I got an NB Miata and learned to drive stick, and fell in love with the car. Now I've upgraded to a 6th Gen Camaro that is a more comfortable daily for the insane DC area commute. I plan to try my hand at Autocross for the first time this next year and I'm really excited to document it here!

Welcome, bigmack101! If you can navigate downtown D.C., you might be a bit prepared for your first autocross. ;-) Looking forward to hearing more about your projects and fun.

Hi I'm Shawn I'm an engineer in the LA area.  I'm looking to get some track time at the local track (Willow Springs and eventually Laguna Seca).  I've got a 1970 datsun 240z and a crap ton of parts that need to go back inside of it so i can get some seat time.  I joined this form so i could research about how to build a safe track car.  My goals are to learn how to build a safe car so i can take it to Willow Springs / Laguna Seca and other tracks to enjoy.  I have a close friend that builds cages for off-road cars but not track cars.  I like to build so the process of building this car will be just as fun as racing it on track.

Cheers!

Shawn

Welcome Shawn! Love your goals. If it's helpful, we recently put in a cage in our V6-swapped Miata. See the article here: Why did we rip out our roll cage and build a new one? | Mazda Miata | Project Car Updates | Grassroots Motorsports

Keep us posted. Many of us would love to follow your build. Feel free to create a build thread here: Builds and Project Cars forum | Grassroots Motorsports

I've been reading the articles and forum posts for years but just signed up for an account yesterday. Me and a friend are instructors with Turn 2 lapping in the Seattle area and been endurance racing since 2019 in Lucky Dog.  A few years ago we decided to build a c5 z06 racecar and it's been a fun learning experience. Looking to meet good people in the PNW area and on the west coast that want to endurance race.  So far we have stayed local racing at The Ridge, Pacific Raceways, ORP, PIR ect. We did do one race at Thunderhill and would like to do more CA tracks in the upcoming season. I also enjoy building/training on simulators and always trying to learn more to go faster (and help others get faster too)!

Hello,

First off all, English is not my main language, apologies if my wording is not perfect. I'm Arya, I'm from Jakarta, Indonesia. I dont think anyone here is from Indonesia, or are there? Anyways, I've been reading posts and following the builds here for several years and I have finally decided to join. I've been into automotive since childhood. I think the collective minds here are amazing.

Since 2018, I've come to the world of rallying and speed off-road. I'm lucky to have the opportunity to be a co-driver and learn on building a '83 Toyota Corolla KE70 to participate on our local and national rally sprint events. It has a carburated 4 barrel Weber on a 4AGE 20V engine, combined with a W58 transmission, and a rear differential from a Suzuki pick up for better final gearing ratio  (5,28).

I also have another KE70 that has been in the works to build and compete, its been five years waiting on the car port. I hope i can contribute here by showing some form of rallying thats going on in Indonesia and also hopefully can share my on going projects here.

Here are some action shots at Rally Sprint at Meikarta back in I think 2022, its 90 percent tarmac with just 10 percent gravel.

In reply to David S. Wallens :

Greetings, all. Survived brain cancer, retired after 35 years of a very public and colorful career in central Texas law enforcement.

My 2005 GT, 'Bluebonnet', I ordered in November 2004 and took delivery in February '05.
She is literally a first-run S197, having turned 20 years old this year. Suffice it, she is the third consecutive GT I have owned, all bought new, all beloved, but Blue is special. I have lurked in, occasionally participated in, but always benefited from Mustang forums for those 20 years in which there were interweb 'Stanger engagements. E.g., BamaTune, in 2006, were THE shizzit. HA.

TLDR, recent hours spent skimming 2025-era forums highlighted some things, Number One being unanswered scenario questions. If I had been engaged last year, I could have helped two kids at least. Guilty myself, a void of Gen X institutional experience,
pre-interweb herspers tech, -upgrading my analog nitrous to logic controller- forty years later N20 is STILL a mystery niche. I only now discovered GRM, and I am impressed by some seriously creative folks here of my own generation. Suspensions were my weak area, but...God Bless You, GRM.

The Tales of My People.
From there, for anybody interested, Bluebonnet's current madness-inspired, mostly DIY tech mods to her nitrous and datalogging interface/s, finally Wideband Lambda.!!..so, remember from whence you came. Godspeed, ya'll. Thank you! Eric

Hi everyone, I have been scanning the forum for a few weeks and decided to sign up. I have been a motorhead most of my life and am seriously considering getting an old winston cup car for playing with at the local road course.  What would be the appropriate part of the forum to ask technical questions regarding doing this, thanks in advance.

I too, am new to the site. I have been working on, and daily driving Shelby Dodge vehicles for over 20 years. I somehow got signed up for the GRM mailing list and finally broke down and purchased a subscription so I can read the articles. My fellow Turbo Mopar guys on here will know how cheap I am and how high my interest must have been!

Hi all,

I finally joined up to participate instead of just searching for answers and landing here half the time anyway. I'm building/built an E39 M5 as a track only car. Maybe I'll make a build thread at some point. Only a handful of us are dumb enough to build an e39, let alone an e39 M5. I have all the M5 specific knowledge I need, having worked on them for 15 years now, but I'm very lacking in road racing/driving knowledge. Two areas in particular that I want to advance is in suspension tuning and basic aero.

Finally decided to register (earlier this month that is) after having a magazine subscription for a while.

I've got three cars, but there's only one that's really possibly relevant to the forum here, my 1989 190E 2.6 5MT, which I am thinking about building for autocross (GS or EST), since my two other cars have other focuses (one being my utility vehicle, and my other being my HPDE/nominal weekend fun car).

Hey new guy here.  I used to Autox in the aughts, first a 2003 WRX, then a 2008 STI.  Then marriage and baby happened.  Now I'm in my 50s and looking to get back into autox as well as track driving.  I bought a 996.2 in 2018 hoping this would be the car to do it, but I blew through the budget having the engine rebuilt.  It still needs work as far as suspension and addressing oil pressure deficiencies for track running.  So that car seeing competition or track work is on the back burner for now.  I'm looking to explore other options, either prepping my worn out VW CC 6sp manual (currently sitting on jackstands in the garage waiting for me to install a new water pump and fix the valve cover leaks), or getting something turn key, like a new Elantra N.  I will be seeking the wisdom of everyone here.

Hi guys. I just joined. I've been a car guy most of my life, but I've been in and out of the scene, so to speak, as finances allowed.

My first fun car was a 2005 g35. I did everything in that car; local meets, autox, drag racing (>300 passes), canyon runs, dyno days, etc. Then was a 2011 Mustang GT brembo car (>100 drag strip passes), then a 2018 Camaro 1LE, then some crappy cars because of changes in life circumstances. And now .... now my daily is a 2016 Focus ST. My "toy" is a 2022 Camaro 1LE, and my passion project is a 2013 Mustang Boss 302.

Also - I've launched an app for car enthusiasts to track their cars and mods, their activities, find local meets, etc. It's still very much in its early stages so not lots of traffic, but it is very much a "grass roots" effort. I'm officially advertising with GRM - afterall, people that visit/read GRM are exactly the people my app is intended to reach. I won't share the link here, but I hope people find the app interesting and useful.

Hey all !! Been reading the magazine for years, love it. I just started watching the You Tube channel. I've been into cars for 57 years, I'm 58. My first new car was a 1989 Mustang LX 5.0 that I drag raced locally from 1990 to 2004. My current toy is my 2012 Boss 302 that I also bought new. I've been doing HPDE since 2015 with this car. I wish I had found road course driving before drag racing, it's a whole lot more fun.

I really miss the forum experience. I was heavily invested in the g35 community 20 years ago and spent entirely too much time on forums. I found this place a couple of years ago after I bought my camaro, but just recently joined. That took too long.
