The Audi has a plan.
1.) Get finished
2.) Race
I accomplished those two things in 2025. Now the 2026 plan:
1.) Fix the stuff that broke or fell off
2.) Race it some more
I have to take planning seriously, because if I don't have a plan, then I am aimless and therefore nothing gets done. The list is well-defined and solves the problems at-hand.
Get the fire bottle refilled (heh... heh.. yeah), install new turbo studs, replace exhaust manifold nuts with new ones, install new oil drain line from the turbo. Once that's done, mosey over to the Dyno and run the thing until it's glowing cherry red to make sure it doesn't break again (and maybe find that last 50 horsepower that we forgot in the software). Parts are bought--either in the mail or on my welding table. I'll rip into it this weekend.

...The Dart went from vaguely planned to much more detailed planning. It started with just the goal of making it a better performing street car. That has remained, and there's a few points that follow:
1. It doesn't have to fit any particular racing class.
2. Reliability is more important than absolute maximum performance.
3. It needs safe handling and braking on the street - no twitchy alignments, no lightweight brakes that won't handle repeated stops, no dragstrip suspension mods that maximize weight transfer at the expense of safe steering.
The idea to build a turbo slant six was something that I had pondered but really got moving on when I found a used turbo setup. Which had a lot of problems. Trying to sort these out lead to planning an EFI swap followed by calculating a turbo for max efficiency in a desired RPM band, leading to a detailed engine and drivetrain build when I lost a rod bearing.
This sounds really cool. Do you have a build thread for it? I love seeing the old sixes (Ford 300 and Dodge's /6) being built up.
