morris mini 1000
millions in the UK. 17000 led in the US
In reply to EricM :
That's not a Mini. It is a Morris Minor 1000. They never bothered to make a "Minor" logo for them and often after the engine upgrade to 1000cc the Minor name was allowed to fade away long before production ended.

This is a stock Lumina under the Earnhardt paint. Drivers door window has a "window net" made from window tint. It's a pretty accurate representation. My son texts me every time he sees it on the road.

MAYbe it's not a unicorn, but at 37k miles and with all its interior door pulls in place, I sure thought it was.
Side note: a worn out version of this was in my stable of cars when my wife and I got together. And it took no small part in delaying that coupling by a few months while she tried to come to grips with it and someone who would own it.

Have I been sleeping for a while?? These are now a thing here in the states??
R33s have been legal for years and R34s are now legal too.
Honestly with RHD imports in Atlanta I see a few a week (Crowns, Soarers, Cappuccinos, Laurels, the occasional Supra and Rx7 etc) to the point where it's not really as exciting anymore to me.
Even in this thread there are a ton of Japanese imports and I'm at the point if I see a RHD Supra at a gas station or a 1991 Dodge Spirit R/T , I would geek out over the Spirit way more. It used to be such a rare thing but importers coast to coast now it seems so saturated to me.
Saw a guy wrenching on this while out on a bike ride and had to stop. It's a Fiberfab Avenger, a Beetle-based GT40-looking kit car. Under 50HP with the stock-spec Beetle engine but also under 1500lbs. When you look at the height of this thing you might wonder if it's shorter than a GT40, but it's actually 43" tall. I managed to get into it and with a quick-release wheel, it would be easier than getting into an Elise.

He was taking it on a first test drive around the neighborhood when it had a breakdown, he'd like to take it on track eventually but it's far from ready for that. It was on 20+yo tires, some bigger diameter wheels would be handy for fitting modern performance rubber but there aren't a lot of affordable options for the Beetle bolt pattern, he was saying the best bet is finding some old 16" wheels.
Also this may be cheating since it was at a track day, but, an FFR 818R:

I wasn't sure if it was an 818 at first, turns out the R version and later 818s have different bodywork on the front than the earlier 818s with the wider headlights. The driver said it had a 2.5L turbo Cobalt engine.
In reply to GameboyRMH :
2.5 WRX motor? I didn't think a Cobalt motor would fit, nor did a 2.5 Cobalt motor exist. 2.0L turbo and 2.4 NA.
In reply to fatallightning :
Seems to be a custom swap, you can see where the rear engine cover was cut for the intake to stick out. I'm assuming it's a mix-and-match of parts using the 2.5L LTG block, or maybe an overbored 2.4? When he confirmed that it was an 818 I asked if it had an EJ25 and he didn't seem to know what that was ![]()
