I bought a box of the black (9 mil?) nitrile gloves at HF, they're pretty hard to tear, and I wear them when cleaning parts in the solvent wash tank, but trying to work on a car with them is frustrating to me, they get all sweaty inside and I lose too much feel in the tips of my fingers. That said, they do save on the nicks and cuts.....and I find them pretty difficult to tear. Buy one size bigger than you think you'll wear.....my hands are not large so I bought the mediums - couldn't even get them on. Large size fit pretty tightly......
Ansell HyFlex. Try them out & then start buying them by the box.
Happy medium between single use disposable & heavier work gloves, but on average they last longer than the last few pairs of Mechanix gloves that I bought.
For better or worse, they also have a million different variants, so you can pick whatever best ticks the checkboxes you want them to (somehow... eventually... maybe - don't expect them to offer a simple comparison table or such to help you figure it out)
I meant to reply when this thread started, didn't have time.
I use the black 9 mil nitrile gloves from the hammer store. My hand size is XL, but the 2XL works for me, and they're so durable that I can usually wear one multiple times. Since they're just a little bit loose, I can get them off without turning them inside out.
Yes, it is possible to tear them, but they're surprisingly durable. No comparison to the typical nitrile gloves like the ones I get at work.
I've been happy with the Adenna gloves I've been buying online since HF supply chain on gloves became sketchy during Covid (along with the soaring prices). I buy a size up (I'm a L, but buy XL), but they're very durable and typically last several jobs before they tear and I have to throw them out. I used to wear thinner HF nitrile gloves for oil changes, but those tear so easily that I've given up and just wear the 9mil all the time.
