Thinking about putting together a small road rally with friends this summer nothing fancy, just a few semi-reliable cars and a lot of zip ties. Probably 2–3 days, camping along the way.

Any tips on planning routes, simple challenges, or tools to keep things organized?
Would love to hear what’s worked (or failed) for others.

I did some day tours a million years ago, but nothing as long as what you're suggesting. You might check this out for inspiration. I stumbled across their YouTube content a few weeks ago - it's quite good. Look for experiences with the various Lemons Rallies as well.

I restarted a road rally program in my area last year.  So far I've only put on two simple GTA rallies, both were simple spots to visit and take a photo, move on to the next, end at food.

Next month I'm trying something new, list a possible 20 or so places, you decide which to visit and in what order to make sense, and score points at each one.  Each place is a random point value, you might get lucky and pick a 20 point location, it might be a 1 point spot.  Most points at the end wins a stupid prize.

I plan to move up to a TSD if I can gather resources and actually learn the method.

In reply to Jerry :

I never attempted to organize a TSD rally, mostly because I drove in a bunch of them and it seemed like a lot of work, especially the route planning and timing. More power to you if you can get one put together. I'm sure that those who currently run them will be happy to offer advice.

I've never organized one, but the California Melee is a 3-day, 1,000 mile blast. Go for it!

Overcrest twice. Super fun and a bunch of really cool people.
