My lust for a small, fuel efficient truck finally overcame my disdain of buying new vehicles last weekend.

2025 XL hybrid. The only options are the hitch and the floor mats. I do my towing with a dolly, so I didn't feel any need for the 4k tow package/AWD.

Painted the wheels on Sunday and had the front windows tinted on Monday.

Lowering springs were delivered Wednesday, and I plan on installing them this weekend before it goes to the detailer for ceramic coating next week. That should have it dialed in for the many years of ownership I intend for it.

This week has been about familiarizing myself with the updated interior vs the 2024 we use for deliveries at my part time gig, and enjoying the +40mpg commutes to and from my normal job. First towing adventure will be over Labor Day weekend.

I know we have several Maverick owners here on GRM. Post em up, give the daily utility vehicles some love(70's economy cars of the same name will not be shunned either!).

SWMBO recently picked up a '25 LXT hybrid and I'm completely smitten with it. Its about perfect as a daily driver.

No photo, but the other day I saw a Maverick wearing a topper.

Thanks! They are more teal in person than my camera wants to share.

Maverick things I did this past weekend

600 miles of towing returned 21mpg avg for the trip. Didn't hate that.

Beautiful truck! If ford offered it with a manual transmission, I would have one in my driveway right now!

Is that a Buell Blast? I didn't realize you were such a man of culture.

It is indeed! Mrs. gumby passed her MSF, and I picked the Baby Buell up for her on my way home from Grattan. 16" wheels and low saddle are a great combination for a 5ft-nuthin rider

We recently took our '25 XLT on a big road trip for vacation. Virginia Beach to Petosky, MI. That's 1,000 miles each way. We threw our bikes on the hitch as we planned on going to Mackinac Island and that area in general has a lot of trails. Holy crap the bikes nuked the fuel mileage for the trip up. We had been seeing 34mpg on highway trips (mostly 80mph) and ended up at 26mpg for the trip up. For the return trip, I ended up disassembling the bikes and creatively stuffing them in the bed along with all our luggage. That got us right back to 34mpg average for the return trip.

We've done this trip the last 5 years running and this truck is by far the easiest, most efficient, most comfortable and enjoyable vehicle we've taken. Our 2 hatchbacks were packed to the gills and then you add 2 45lb dogs in the back seat. It was cramped to say the least, but everything fit in the bed and we only had snack stuff in the cab with us. The jeep was better but was less than 15mpg. The dogs had more room and so did we. It's super comfortable and so easy to cruise in. The only thing I really wish it had was the adaptive cruise control. That would have made the haul even easier. It's amazing how good this thing is.

I get pretty positive remarks in a racing paddock for my small setup. People love seeing that a small truck can do it. I got it to replace an 07 expedition and it honestly accelerates MUCH better and more effortlessly than the big v8 did. It does get pushed around a touch more, but not concerningly so.

My wife even keeps stealing it, though I can't blame her when she's hauling the kids following me in the bugeye.
