This is my 1986 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. I’ve owned it since 2012, it was my only car thru college until I got my K1500 when I graduated. Unknown body mileage, odometer quit working in 2013. My best guess is ~280,000. I was told the engine was rebuilt at ~160,000 miles. LG4 code 305 small block chevrolet, T-5 manual transmission. I try to drive it to work every once in a while. I think the car is decent and could make a decent project for someone, i’m just spread too thin and will be for a while. It was in better shape until Dec 2024, some junkie broke in and broke things in the interior. Located in Knoxville, TN. Clean Tennessee title in my name, and TN does not require any notarizing upon purchase. Asking $2000
The good: southern car, virtually no rust. I’m only aware of a small bubbling area on the driver’s rear wheelwell. The body seems to be pretty decent, no big dents/dings. It runs and drives, i’m a little bolder than most but i wouldn’t be too scared to drive it somewhere.
The bad: paint is cooked, the clearcoat is gone from the horizontal surfaces. It will wash up pretty decent but if you leave it alone, it will oxidize. I was hoping to experiment with some penetrol or some wipe-on stuff but never got around to it. The interior isn’t great since that guy broke in. He broke the windshield, cracked the dash, broke the door handles, an armrest, console lid. It drives like it’s got 300k on it, steering is sloppy, lots of rattles/squeaks.
The weird: in about 2018, the stock quadrajet started leaking fuel from that infamous plug, so I pulled it and put together an MPFI system running a microsquirt. Holley throttle body, walbro 255 in-tank, aluminum intake, and i hooked the stock computer controlled distributor (yes that was a thing) to the microsquirt so there is full fuel and timing control via TunerStudio. I got a base tune in there and have been driving it like that ever since.
