I decided that it's time to move on from my project bike. I got it 3 years ago from my FIL not running. I found out that the water pump has been broken off of the block and poorly rewelded at some point. I found a parts bike with to pull the engine from, then proceeded to let the bikes sit in the corner of my garage for the next 3 years. I finally got the bug to get the bike done last month, so I spent a week or so swapping the engines out and getting the bike running. Unfortunately for me, the "good engine" in the parts bike did not also come with a good transmission. It does not engage 2nd gear and instead sounds like a box of rocks. It does fire right up and drive in 1st gear at least! I believe it would be possible to take both engines and combine them to make one complete functioning powerplant. I just have too many other projects and don't need this one taking any more garage space.
The main bike has a good Wisconsin title. The parts bike does not have a title.
