I'm drawn to shiny objects, so I vote for a full polish.

Once I tidy up a few things on my Cougar, this thing gets a tear down!  Forks and shocks out for tear down, new springs, new seals, and fresh fluid.  I'll install the tank at that time as well I think.

Vintage Ducs had mixed finishes on the tank.  The bike that was the Ducati's inspiration for mine did not however.
All of this is just to make for a more enticing BAT auction when I'm too old to ride this thing anymore!

Modern Ducati SP and the R still have the polished or brushed tank. One of my favorite features on mine.

also it's astonishing the difference the wheel weight makes. The lighter ones and especially the carbon fiber ones loose the most weight on the rim where it does the most work.

Yeah I've been looking at those for inspiration.  The ones I've seen have all been brushed and I like the look.

The wheels have become my favorite mod on the bike to this point.  I always thought the spokes wheels looked fantastic but adding the aluminum rim is a subtle extra touch.  I'm torn as to what finish I'm going to use on the cast wheels-stripped and polished or stripped and bright gold.

Local motorcycle GTG last night.  Beautiful night for a quick ride.

I was headed to a local motorcycle GTG Wednesday night when a kind motorist told me I had no brake light so I headed home.
Yesterday I pulled it apart and the lens came off the reflector which it's not supposed to do.  The bulb was bad so it got a new 1157 LED.  I glued the lens to the reflector with some 5 min epoxy and put everything back in the hole.

I'm down to the last few items on my wants list for this machine.  I scored an older Kendon folding single place trailer from a local Ducati club member at a great price.  He got a new two place and this had been unused for a while.  It's been well used and will need some clean-up, new tires and a spare but will easily suit my needs for the foreseeable future.

Got a couple of quick rides in the last two days.  Weather has been fantastic here in metro Detroit.   No pics but a lot of smiles behind the visor.

Got the battery on the charger last week and stuffed it in yesterday.  Fired up immediately and hit the road.

I rode up to a local C&C Saturday.  Vintage Ferrari and Alfa coupes, newer muscle cars, and a few motorcycles.

Headed out for a ride last weekend and got clicks but no starter engagement.   Hmmm.  Hit it with my battery charger with starter boost and it fired up.  Hmmm.  I bought a starting circuit wiring kit with large diameter wires a while back so I decided to throw that on.  Nothing moves quickly on bike projects for me it seems.  Components are visible but clearances are tight.  I also had a crankcase vent tube that was cracked.  It lives in the same space as the positive lead to the solenoid so I decided to pull of the fuel tank-that was full.  Le sigh.  Handled that messy situation and ran the vent tube then started on the wire replacements.  I placed the battery on my trickle charger and hope to finish the wiring tonight.  Obligatory pics below.
