wvumtnbkr,
sorry to read of your road riding conditions. I have been riding in San Francisco Bay Aread for 41 years and seen lots of changes. Since the best riding ever, during the Covid lockdown, motorists have gotten worse and worse. Not actively agressive as they were at the end of the pandemic, but just utterly rude and inattentive. Normalized bad driving. I road ride about 80 miles a week, and being retired, I am very picky about when and where I ride.
Cheers,

I avoid busy roads like the plague too. I used to bike commute to work (15mi one way), and in the same week had a hot coffee and an entire slice of pizza thrown at me from different cars. I was well inside the breakdown lane and not in a pack. After that, I bought a gravel bike and head for the woods and mountains. It's not worth it to me, just to get taken out by someone with anger issues, or who's on their phone.
Well, I added one more to the stable...at least this one is used.

I'm not a roadie - at all - but a friend was selling this Pinarello & it's the first road bike I've ever felt comfortable on. He has a set of carbon aero wheels for it that he's going to get to me in the next week or 2. I weighed it right at 18lbs. I don't remember the model or year, but it has Shimano Di2 shifting with a brand new battery.
I guess I need to stock up on some Lycra now...
Edit: I figured out it's a Dogma F10, so it looks like it's around a 2017-2018 model.
I just took it for a ~6 mile ride. I'll need to get my wrists used to the riding position on the hoods, as they were pretty sore afterwards. I had wrist pain when I got back on the bike 3-years ago that went away, but had some pain when I got the Supercaliber this spring(that's almost completely gone now), so I expect it will subside with some more time on this bike.
After that I'll need to raise the saddle ~1/2" or so, but since that'll put more weight on my wrists there's no reason to raise it now.
That looks like a nice addition. I like my disc brakes and wide tires even for road now so I don't think I would buy one but it sounds like a nice bike.

I've noticed that my hands are incredibly sensitive to the angle of the hoods. I usually wind up tipping the bars back just a tad and it helps with getting a straighter wrist.
Lizard Skins makes some gel inserts that lay under the bar tape that are game changers. You can route the pieces under the hoods and that has alleviated most/all of my finger numbness issues.
That's really nice. Probably the last of the rim brake Pinarellos.
My little group of 10 or so recently pulled another MTBer onto the road. He got a great deal on a new Canyon Aeroad.
After a winter of MTB, I'm always struck by how fast road bikes go. This morning my friends (I fell off about 7 miles in...) did a 14.5 mile section averaging 27.4. No stops but some turns that require slowing/accelerating and we got caught behind an 18 wheeler for a few minutes. It's an out-n-back, so no wind effects either. Nuts...

This has something under the tape, but I'm not sure if it's the same stuff.

I rode it briefly with the original carbon aero wheels(the rear hub was bad, but he has another matching wheel set for me) & was surprised how well the brakes worked. The carbon pads aren't great on the current aluminum rims & I would have preferred discs regardless, but hopefully these won't cause any concerns.

Thanks for the suggestion! I tipped them back a bit this evening, but didn't have time for a ride. Hopefully the weather cooperates & I can put a few miles on it tomorrow evening.

The only time I've hit that speed on flat ground was once with a ludicrous tailwind. I doubt this bike will make me that much faster, but if I can hold ~20 on flat ground for a pretty good distance I'll be happy.

Thanks for the suggestion - I did a 20-mile ride last night & barely had any pain!
I got the wheels installed yesterday too.

So of course I had to weigh it.

It's certainly not the lightest road bike, but it's about 3lbs lighter than the FX, which is about 4lbs lighter than the Supercaliber. So it's a pretty narrow spread.

It's odd how sensitive our bodies can be to such minor changes, isn't it?
I'm really glad it helped!
I co-lead a weekly Wednesday evening fitness ride & wanted to pre-ride the route on the Pinarello to see how my wrists would hold up over the ~26 miles.
...and I unintentionally set 2 new PRs beat my previous highest average speed for the ride by 1.6mph. This bike feels like I'm cheating.

I actually have 2 BMX bikes I'm trying to sell since I never ride them. I'd been trying to think of any other bikes I might want to replace them with, but I can't come up with anything.

Unless one of them is a 24" BMX, you need a 24" BMX bike. Just so fun around the neighborhood.

I have a DK Sprinter 24, but I don't really enjoy riding it either.
There's a pretty big group of guys around my age with newer SE bikes, and it's a great group of people, but those bikes don't interest me at all. They're too bulky/heavy. I've ridden with the group in the past & enjoyed it, but I've reached a point that it's a slower pace than I enjoy(most of the time). Plus it's the same time as the fitness ride I co-lead(I'm in the half-fast group), although our 2 groups cross paths fairly frequently.
Since I've been so busy putting miles on the Pinarello, I figured it was as good of time as any to do the drivetrain swap on the FX.
I fell in love with the SRAM Apex system on the Supercaliber, and never really loved the Shimano GRX drivetrain on the FX, so I gathered all the parts & got everything swapped over earlier this week.

It's such a smoother & faster setup, plus it gives more consistent shifts. Although after riding the Pinarello, the extra amount of effort it took to ride the FX truly felt daunting at first!
I put some miles on the Supercaliber yesterday & did some mountain climbing. It was some beautiful scenery, but that air really started getting thin above 8000'. By the time I was nearing the summit I was in my lowest gear, barely putting any effort on the pedals, doing 3-4mph, and still had to stop about every 100-yards to catch my breath. I'd only been in town 4-days, so hopefully it gets a little bit easier.

Hi everyone! What kind of bike is the most suitable for the city?
Probably a fixie canoe with a flip flop hub.
