GRM Assetto Corsa Racing League S19 -GT3

Probably going to be a tough week for me. The HC is piling up and the McLaren isn't great in terms of straight line speed to begin with. Combined with being on the road and not having any testing time I'm tempering my expectations.

Awesome, it may be worth it for daytona.

I might miss this week (friend in town), so Dean, make sure to save the replay.  I am expecting 914's first race win, so I hate to miss it!

The Camry would probably be pretty good at Daytona since it likes speed much like most of their owners....

If other people can also see about saving replays it would be helpfull.  Mine only seems to save one race.  I need to get your replay save settings some time. Maybe that would fix it. 

I ran some laps last night in the Altima. To me, the tricky parts are the two areas where you come down off the oval, particularly the bus stop chicane. I kept taking rear wing off the car to try and gain a little more top end, but ended up making it too unstable under braking when coming off the banking, so I added a little back in. Of course, it pushes like crazy in the infield section, so I tried adding some rear bar, which helped there, but again, made it too loose on high-speed corner entry. Tough to find the balance.

I'm tempted to play with the Altima a bit more.  I took a couple laps in it last night with just a blind stab at dialing it in.  There is potential for sure.  Gearing, aero, brake balance, etc. are all huge on this track.  I'd probably need another 20 laps with it to dial it in as good as the Z4, but I can share what I did so far.  It sounds so cool.

I will try and be on tonight.  Really just to get laps in and develop muscle memory for the track.  I think I got the Lambo as good as I can get it.  It is on the loose side but I can keep the back end under it if I am careful not to put to much steering in to it on turn in.  Abrupt inputs upsets the car.  Especially at the transitions on and off the oval.  I can get in to the 47's but it is a one hit wonder lap.  Race pace will be in the 48's and 49's maybe even in the 50's.   

I am running zero wing with softer rear shock setting to help calm down the rear end of the car.  This nets me the ability to get good corner exit and some serious top speed.  I am 181-182mph at the 200 marker going in to turn 1  Or about 175-177 at start finish line.

The new server appears to be up and running.  I currently have it running a default server with a Kunos Car and Track.  The link to it is in the Discord General Chat if people feel like messing with it.

Are we racing on the old server or the new one?

For now the old one we have been racing on. I will most likely change things out between seasons. I will change the ip of the new one to be the same as the old one. If I do it correctly you should never actually know I swapped machines.

I did some testing in the new server and there seems to be less studdering (dropped packets??).  The new server is a HP eletedesk 800 G6 mini that is running a I7 10700T with 32 GB ram.   It is so much quieter than the old machine and it uses way less power.  I added a second stick of ram to bring it to 32gb and a 2nd 2tb drive for additional storage.

It is one of these.

I tried playing the game on the Eletedesk but with it not having a GPU at 1080 high it was locked at 24fps.  So not a machine to game on but as a server it is perfect. 

The old server (currently in use) is running on a AMD 2700X with 32gb of ddr4 at 3600. I had a really old GPU in it (so old it only needed power from the PCI slot).  I put it in to save power and since it was not being used for gaming I did not need any more than that.  My other GPUs that I had all were higher end requiring direct PSU power. The rest of it was cobbled together from spare parts I had lying around from upgrades to other PCs over the years.

I have a couple spare GPUs I could put in it and it would be a ok low-middle end gaming PC.  The limiting factor would be the power supply.  I think it has a 500w in it but I am not really sure.  It was also from my parts pile.

I hope everyone has been getting time to practice.  I am finding time on this track with minor changes to my car's setup and adjusting how I drive a couple of corners.  I also made a very subtle gear change that seems to have helped first and 2nd gear corners.

I've kind of found a wall in the mid-1:42s... can't seem to go faster on the server.  Ran high 1:40s offline without HC.  Interested to see your setup Dean...  I didn't make too many changes from Daytona.

At least I was a consistent 5th
