Happy National Sandwich Day

Yahoo.com: The most famous local sandwich from every state

North Dakota: This state's huge Scandinavian population loves their Smørbrød, a classic open-faced sandwich commonly made with rye bread, roast beef, Gravlax (a type of salmon), butter, lettuce, Jarlsberg cheese, pickled herring, hard-boiled eggs, honey mustard, or cucumber.

I can't believe it isn't a Lutefisk sandwich and I've never had either.

Didn't we just have a sandwich day?

I find Scandinavian food intriguing, but I'm not sure if I have the palate to appreciate it.

(Unless, of course, you count Swedish Fish wink)

Oregon = the Falafel pita? I'm sorry, what?

I love the things and know of exactly 2 places to get them in the second most populous area of the state.

That list is off

Interesting - didn’t know what to eat for lunch so I made a wheat bread/mustard sardine/lettuce and cheese sandwich.

Felt kind of Scandinavian today except I think those Aldi canned sardines kinda suck…..

I had leftover gyro for lunch. Since I folded the pita, I’m gonna call that a sandwich.

TL:DR How fitting that today is Big Mary Monday, and we participated.

Truth be told, Mrs. O'lady likes nothing more than to dine out. I've been so busy lately that we haven't, so I made a suggestion last week that both makes her happy and satisfies my frugal nature. This week we are taking advantage of the daily specials at various restaurants. Today is Big Mary Monday. A big Mary is an excellent chicken sandwich from Mary Browns. We got three Big Marys, then popped over to Fast Eddies for the best fries, $20 all in.

No specials that we could find for Tuesday, but there's Whopper Wednesdays, Thursday is Pizza Hut, then Friday we'll finish off at a steakhouse in Niagara for an early bird where we'll get two big slabs of meat and all the fixin's for about 70 cents on the dollar.

...a classic open-faced sandwich...

Open-face is as much a 'sandwich' as it is a 'no-bake pizza'. devil

I celebrated with a classic PB&J.

I was just coming here to say that - yes, soft shell crab sandwiches are a thing, but they’re a Maryland thing. No one in Delaware eats them.  You just bite - soft shells are when a crab is caught right after molting, so they are not crunchy yet.  Well, people bite them, because I sure as hell won’t.

Delawareans are far more likely to eat a scrapple sandwich, which is equally disgusting in a totally different way.

And if we’re talking sandwiches, gotta mention Beefy King–find them in the Orlando’s Milk District.

The Reuben is superb. It just melts in your mouth.

And no computers, no screens. They take your order on a notebook pad.

Sunday we had the kids over and for goulash and spaetzle, and also made bread to have with it.

Today we're going to finish off the bread making sandwiches with last Thursday's dinner, meatloaf. It' gonna be wicked
