North America had Showroom Stock, Europe had FIA Group 1.

This Ford Capri competed in the latter of the two, securing a 12th overall and sixth in class at the 1981 Nürburgring 24 Hours, as well as various class wins throughout the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Originally constructed by German touring car team Eichberg Racing, the Capri would undergo restoration work in the early 2020s that also saw the fitting of an engine and gearbox tuned by marque specialist Ric Wood.

Most recently, the car was refreshed in February of this year and has since competed in just two races–one of which was at the Goodwood Members’ Meeting.

FIA papers and the Capri’s original Wagenpass are also included in the sale.

Find this 1978 Ford Capri Mk III 3.0 Group 1 for auction at RM Sotheby’s, with an estimated value of £60,000-£90,000 (approximately $80,000-$120,000 USD).
