For Japanese customers who purchased a 2023 GR Corolla and felt left out after torque was increased for the 2025 model year, Toyota has a software update in the works that would, effectively, increase the torque output from 273 lb.-ft. to the 295 lb.-ft. found on the current GR Corolla.

The software update is also noted to tweak the GR-Four all-wheel-drive system, replacing the 30:70 “Rear” drive mode with a 50:50 “Gravel” drive mode and changing the “Track” drive mode, previously fixed at 50:50, to a variable setup ranging from 60:40 to 30:70.

Good for them, right?

Except when asked if the update would be coming to the U.S., a spokesperson from Toyota confirmed that “Unfortunately, there won’t be a software update for U.S. GR Corollas.”

Whomp whomp.

On the bright side, at least we got a GR Corolla–Toyota could have just made the GR Yaris and said, “Tough luck, America.”

Ouch. Harsh realm.

I'd like that power bump, but not sure about redoing the drive modes.  Kinda like my simple 60/40 - 50/50 - 30/70.
