A Chevy Malibu-powered Pontiac Firebird? Yes, but perhaps not the Malibu you might have in mind.

This Firebird features a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four engine from a 2018 Malibu.

Sacrilege? Perhaps–but the new engine’s performance is somewhat comparable to what may have been initially put in the car.

Depending on the engine choice, the Firebird could have produced anywhere from 165 horsepower to 325 horsepower. The power output for the Chevy four-banger? Around 250 horsepower from the factory.

Other notable modifications include a Tremec TR3160 6-speed manual, a Ford 9-inch rear end, a complete Heidts chassis kit, Wilwood brakes and a Vintage Air A/C system.

My buddy Jay has a 69 nova with a factory 4-cylinder. I'd like to do a Camaro / ATS 2.0T swap on it.

Hour plus build video.   This one is actually really close to me if someone is interested enough to want eyes on it.

Yeah, don't quite get the Malibu FWD 2.0t, when the Camaro/ATS 2.0t RWD with the Tremec 6 spd exists, plus 45+ more hp...

This engine is rated 250 net vs factory's most powerful engine at 325 gross. Which is more powerful?

Even the 6 cylinder of the late model got you over 300 horses. While not as unusual as the turbo 4, it would have been a little closer to the top 8 when it originally sold

240 lb-ft for the sprint 6

438 lb-ft for the 400

260 lb-ft for the turbo 2.0

You can't go by hp when one engine tops out at 4500rpm and the other zings to 6000.

I guess if you couldn't buy the proper engine anywhere.

SAE Gross for the Sprint and the 400, SAE Net for the 2.0?
