The Mustang started to regain its mojo during the first half of the ’80s, with the 302 (finally) returning for 1983. Mike Cornish brought this 1984 Mustang GT to the $2000 Challenge–now a head-turning historical artifact, but back then just a used car.

He replaced the stock intake with a used Holley 650 cfm double pumper perched atop an Edelbrock Torker intake manifold and added a hotter Summit cam. He ran a 15.2 down the quarter, so more or less what that car posted when new.
