Confidence is key, whether it’s working towards a promotion at work, pulling off a trendy outfit, asking for a date to prom or, in our case, autocrossing our Club Spec Mustang project.

This past weekend, a few other GRM staff members and I met up at the Orange County Convention Center for an SCCA autocross to see how the upgrades we’ve fitted affected performance.

We’ll cover the installation of those mods in greater detail soon, but suffice to say, they have made the Mustang feel much more confident as a whole. In comparison to the last time I drove the car on course, it never felt unsettled through slaloms or off-camber corners, nor did it ever feel out of control, whether I was pushing hard on the brake pedal or stabbing at the gas pedal.

Sure, while the upgrades certainly made the Mustang feel faster, we’ll have to take it back to the FIRM to turn some laps to see how much the changes we've made thus far have impacted on-track performance.

Regardless, I improved my time during every one of my runs, so I’ll take that as the biggest win of the day for me.

Bummed I couldn't make it out to the autocross that day, but glad y'all had a good time!

Man, I miss my Miata.  With just some basic suspension parts from FM (their old Stage 2 sways/shocks/springs) and a set of 200tw Dunlops, I felt like I knew what that car was doing under me at all times.  Very confidence inspiring at such an agreeable price of entry.
