Pffft............A Foxbody is superior in every way.
Well expect maybe lap times, and maybe comfort, oh and maybe interior noise.
But other than that a Foxbody is superior in every way.
Why did we buy an S197 Ford Mustang–and why should you?
Find out as we take our first laps in our own 2006 Mustang project car with GRM Tech Editor and Test Driver J.G. Pasterjak.

In the style department the Foxbody clearly takes the win though.
It's funny, as I'm actively considering selling my S197 to buy a Fox body. And honestly, it's a step down in basically every way. Power, handling, brakes, chassis rigidity, ergonomics, NVH, safety, and arguably, styling. But I'm Gen X, so nostalgia wins out over objective facts, especially for a third car.

Flexi-Flier is being kind. LOL
Fortunately they make everything to fix it.

The S197 is a great car and I have driven a couple of them and they are good but the Foxbody is a Siren call that's hard to resist.

They do, but it's all band-aids. I'd be curious to see actual rigidity testing on a fully reinforced Fox vs. an S197. I bet the S197 still comes out on top.
That said, if I do get one, I want T-tops, so clearly rigidity isn't a big priority for me. ![]()
