SCCA’s winner-take-all road racing championship, the aptly named SCCA National Championship Runoffs, heads to Road America next week, September 29-October 5.

Over 400 racers across 23 classes are currently registered to compete, with qualifying set for October 2-3, followed by the racing sessions October 4-5. (Each race session lasts 13 laps or 40 minutes, whichever elapses first.)

Spectator tickets are available, and all the on-track action–qualifying, too–will be live-streamed over on SCCA’s YouTube channel.

View the event schedule below, and check out the entry list to see who's competing this year.

I'll confess it's the most unproductive day at work since it might be streaming in the background AND Friday just happens to be a scheduled office day......

My favorite class is gone.

Formula 600 put on one of the best races every year.

I have to decide what my new favorite class will be.

As an old SCCA guy the runoffs were always my favorite motorsports event. Attended many. Now I hardly know what classes exist. My favorite are still the open wheel classes. Somehow watching Mazda2's and Honda Fits race does nothing for me although I'm sure they are fun to drive and the racing is pretty good.

Formula Atlantic was my favorite. Loved the Ralt RT4. The sound of those Cosworths were wonferful. As an SCCA tech inspector I enjoyed working the pro atlantics at Summit Point.

I just love the old formula cars. Club ford was a favorite class of mine. I preferred the older FF's to the modern ones.

I once got the opportunity to drive a RT5 Formula Super Vee for a session. Obviously not as fast as an Atlantic but still impressive.

As a former DSR competitor I miss the home engineered cars. The new prototypes are amazing but I still like the older cars better.

I have a friend who has run GT3 for well over 20 years, now he has a new class he is forced into with different tire rules and different weight requirements. At least the weight is higher and the tires are less expensive and seem to last longer. It remains to be seen if the car is competitive in the in the new class.

Edit: new class  GT-3 is merging with STU.
