I love it
You won’t find Brian Coleman trailering this Chevy Caprice to and from the track. Instead, he’s driven the car to and from HPDE events all across the country for over a decade–usually with a trunk stuffed with tools and spares.
Powered by a 2nd generation LT1 V8 that has been upgraded with aftermarket cylinder heads and camshafts, the Caprice has also been modified with a T56 six-speed manual gearbox, Lexan door windows, race seats, five-point harnesses and a wider wheel and tire setup.
Look for Brian and his Caprice to arrive at Pitt Race (not on a trailer, of course) this September for our annual search for the fastest track machine on four wheels, the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports.
In his own words, Brian also hopes that the Caprice will be the “fastest 30-year-old car to arrive (and hopefully leave) under its own power.”
Think you have the Ultimate Track Car? Here’s your chance to prove it. If you and your car can pass a safety inspection, good news: you’re eligible to compete–so enter your car today. Curious what you'll be competing against? See who's already entered this year.
The 2025 UTCC will once again be held alongside the SCCA Time Trials Nationals at Pitt Race, September 18-21.
The Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge is presented by Grassroots Motorsports and fueled by Sunoco, in association with Wilwood, Vitour Tire, CRC Industries, Vbox Motorsport and Red Line Oil, with trophies from BimmerWorld, Nine Lives Racing, and Falken Tire.
