During his time as a software engineer at General Motors, Joe Dale fell in love with the C6 Corvette Z06, though he was unable to afford one at the time.

The next best thing? A C6 Z51.

Since then, Joe has built the Corvette into a track car that he says is both affordable and reliable, using “mostly off-the-shelf parts with knowledge from other GM engineers and people I’ve met through various Facebook and forum discussions.”

In its current state, the car sports various upgrades like a ZR1-style wide-body kit, Fortune Auto 510 coil-overs, APR rear wing and wide Nankang tires.

Power-wise, the factory LS3 has been upgraded with an aftermarket exhaust and tune, as well as a few cooling upgrades to keep the car reliable enough to drive to work.

Joe and his Corvette are among the latest entrants into our annual search for the fastest track machine on four wheels, the Tire Rack Ultimate Track Car Challenge Presented by Grassroots Motorsports, September 18-21 at Pitt Race.

Can you and your car pass a safety inspection? Good news: You and your car are eligible to compete, so enter your car today.
