Could Vitour, the company that recently upended the 200tw tire wars, have a Hoosier A7 competitor in the works? That’s what the brand’s North American Market Director Dallas Reed seems to hint at.

[Has the Vitour Tempesta P1 earned its place among 200tw benchmarks?]

According to a recent Facebook post, the forthcoming Vitour Tempesta Sonic is a 100tw, semi-slick, street-legal race tire. Other tires in that segment include the Hoosier TrackAttack Pro, Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperCar 3R and Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R.

Could it even run against the track-only R-comp benchmark from Hoosier? In overseas testing, Reed shares, the development version of the new tire outruns the brand’s P1 by 2 seconds. In Reed’s own U.S. testing at a track of similar length, he says that a Hoosier A7 outpaces the P1 by 1.5 seconds. “That said,” he adds, “the Sonic and A7 haven’t gone head to head just yet.”

Where to see the new tire in the flesh? “Swing by the big orange Vitour trailer or Test N Tune course on Thursday at Solo Nationals, and you might just catch a sneak peak,” he posts, adding that the new tire is one of three releases planned for 2026.

And yes, GRM already has a set earmarked for testing.

Initial sizes of the forthcoming Tempesta Sonic can be found on Vitour’s latest spec sheet.

(I was working with some b/w filters so just assume it’s the ’50s internet.)

Good news.

Look again, scroll up on the chart itself. There's ten 15 inch sizes.

For P1 there were 13 initial sizes, then a phase 2 expansion. Expect a similar rollout with other Vitour semi-slick products.

Article says this

"Could Vitour, the company that recently upended the 200tw tire wars, have a Hoosier A7 competitor in the works? That’s what  the brand’s North American Market Director Dallas Reed seems to hint at."

But Vitour's site says this

"Greater heat tolerance than the P1 P-01R, keeping peak pace alive for more laps"

This doesn't seem to be the way to be faster than an A7, maybe an R7.  I have hope for something softer in a 245/40-15 though without running an narrow 225/50 A052. If true, hurry!

While they often go hand-in-hand, needing heat and tolerating it are two different things.  A tire could light off quickly like an A7, but then also be consistent at that grip level for many laps like an R7.  Just because it's not done that way in the decade-old A7/R7 designs does not mean it can't be ten years later.

One can always hope...
