This thread will be a bit all over the place at first since I have a backlog of work that’s already been done. Pictures are what it looked like when it got into my hands.

My name is Evan, but friends and family call me Evbot.

I was graciously gifted the opportunity to revive this 1985 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. Some of my family members are dedicated hot rodders with their own projects, and they wanted this Camaro to end up in the right hands. I’d like to think I can give it the care it deserves.

When I got the car in May 2022, it could run and drive, but it needed attention in just about every area.

Mice had lived in it.
The paint had been resprayed at some point, and that finish is now failing.
The 5.0L 305 still runs, but it has over 197,000 miles on it and it feels and sounds like it's a little tired.

So what’s my goal with this build?
I want a car I can be proud to drive, and one I know inside and out. This will be the car I learn on, and check off bucket list build projects on (engine swap, rear discs, seats, you name it).

I’d like to take it to autocross events and track days at Road America. I also want it to be reliable enough to take trips with my wife up to Door County, WI, and enjoy cruising the lakeside roads. Most importantly, I want the family members who passed this car on to me to see it brought back to life and better than before.

Anyway, thanks for reading, and I'll be back with updates!

May 2023 We fed this car a brand new battery, the alternator is relatively new, and it is still having a hard time getting started. Time to replace that starter then, eh?

We had the solenoid replaced on the starter and got the starter back to the shop to re-mount it to the engine. After quite the trial period of shimming it in place the starter fired all 5 liters of wimpy American muscles. What great satisfaction.

Bonus Quest: while working on the starter, I found a spark plug wire dangling in my face that was partially cut. "I swear it wasn't me."  Since I would like to have all cylinders roaring when we get this started we swapped it out for a quick and easy win.

That car would look great with a set of IROC rims, either the original 16" size (I think?) or some newer repros in 17 or 18" sizes.  I loved my 89 IROC convertible; one of the nicest cruisers we ever had.  No, it wasn't fast, but you can fix that these days...
