Heads up to everyone. There is a lot of cars to download. People should allow for extra time to do that before tomorrow.

I've only driven a couple so far. The BRZ is pretty fun and should be very raceable.
The AMG was surprisingly fun, especially with TC off. It's a good mix of being a handful without being spin-happy.
The MS3 was just awful.
I'm having trouble downloading things recently, it will download quickly but take FOREVER to finish installing the file in google chrome. There was no way I could get through all the cars last night :( Was the list narrowed down at all last night?

The newer M5 took FOREVER to finish in google chrome... not sure what the issue was, though it was the biggest of the files. The other cars went pretty quickly.
I don't know if it makes a difference, but when I downloaded them, I just selected all the cars in the "Cars of the people" folder and had Google Drive zip them up, then downloaded the zip file. Easy peasy, though it was a pretty large file. Once it was on my local machine, I just unzipped it.
As for last night, I think the consensus was that we didn't like the E28, it was very tail-happy and liked to set it's tires on fire. The E60 and Mk 1 GTI both got high marks. I had to bail before the Mk 2 GTI race, so I don't know how that one went.
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
I think the E28 M5 would be OK with a decent tire model. Definitely something wrong there. The E60s raced better than I thought they would; the big Merc was a little faster and a little tighter... should be similar, but better? Maybe try it next week. The Mk1 GTI wasn't bad. I also bailed before the MkII...

Check out the Season 20 thread, the second post has all the links and getting started info. We look forward to having you join us!

I will go and see if I can separate the One E60M5 car we were using from the large pack it is integrated into. I hope this would help with downloads in the future.
In reply to Tom_Spangler (Forum Supporter) :
I'll give that method a try and see if it gets around the weird install issue.
The MK II was different. Very light steering, just a bit less manic, and the handling felt more like a street car. However, it was a bit faster than the MK I
The E28, I think, is ok as a one-off. It is very loose for me, but not un-drivable. If we were considering a full series, it would definitely need work.
Testing of the Merc Versus the M5, and the Merc is a bit faster. The merc is lots of fun, BUT you miss your braking point and plow off the corner. I like both cars. IF we keep the E28 I would be inclined to run the Merc. IF we don't run the E28 we will most likely keep the E60.
If we run the E28, then we will most likely not run the MK II and instead run the MK I. If we don't run the E28, we will most likely run the MK II and instead of the E60 we run the Merc.
(Ya try and diagram that train of thought :-) )
Gameboy and I stayed on for a while after everyone left, and I think we ran all the remaining cars, and we actually added a couple more (A better BRZ), and at least two other cars that I, at the moment, don't remember what they are. If you got on the server, you should be able to see those times.
Aircooled was not around, so I skipped testing the two cars I included, which I think are at least kind of the stuff he has had. The Mazda 3 is fast but is a typical FF car. It does not rotate well for me. The Stinger Corvair is a really fast, REALLY FUN car. I could see a series with that car for sure!!! There is a 2nd Corvair that seems to be more stock. I have not tested that one yet.
I am stlll looking for car suggestions. Any one drive a mini van? Wait Pro you currently drive a van. We coukd do a van race.
Seriously. I am looking for suggestions for the cars of the people. I will go and see if I can find it. And like I said it does not have to be a current car. It can be a car from your past. It could be a car your buddy had in highschool that you hung out with. What ever it is. It will be cool.
A couple more cars I can add. But this would become the cars of Dean and that is not the point of this series.
Any generation RX7
Any generation Camaro or Firebird/TA
70s Chevrolet Chevel
80s Buick (basicly a turd brown v8 GNX)
Porsche Cyanne
Jaguar x type
If you have not tried the Yanko stinger corvair. I recommend it!!! It is a serious contender for a series car.
Some of the cars I've owned that might be possibilities:
986 Boxster S
Fox body Mustang
S197 Mustang (there might be a model for the current Club Spec version?)
Taurus SHO (first gen and third gen)
FB RX-7
04-06 Pontiac GTO
944 (NA and turbo)
E46 ZHP
E36 M3
4th-gen Camaro
I have an analogue for my K swapped Miata based on the spec Miata. No aero, and I haven't got the brakes quite where I want them, but it runs lap times very close to my real-world car.
I'm also working on a simulation of a real world resto-mod I've been noodling for a while: NC Miata double wishbone suspension under a MK1 Capri. For AC I built in on the ACL RS3100 Capri with a suspension swap from an NC Time Attack car with modern tires. I still have a few bugs to work out for the base settings, but right out of the box it was 5 sec/lap faster than the 'stock' RS3100 and much easier to drive. I do still have a few bugs to work out, but it's very promising.
Either of these would require figuring out how to upload them.
Other potentials from my past cars:
240Z
Fox Mustang
E36 (I do have a Touring in AC, but it's a drift car and terrible)
ZL1 Camaro
S550 Mustang

Did you ever get this sorted?
I will be available tonight (I hope you all insulted yourselves while I was gone).
The Stinger is very analogous to my 65. I suspect it's a Stage III (because it appears to have an interior, and the primary difference between the Stage III and IV is that the IV had the interior stripped). The Stage III has a similar engine to mine, though likely with a lot peakier' cam. It also probably had HD springs, which I have for my car, but I took off because it makes it ride like a skateboard. The transmission in mine is very different (5 speed) and I added a rear sway bar, you know because, when you drive the car in the game, you will think: "man, this thing needs more rear bar!" ![]()
I do have a modified model for mine (guessed at the torque curve), but I need to check it to make sure I have not messed with it too much. The Stinger in AC can be rather challenging at high speeds I will warn. So, not unsafe an ANY speed.
The other cars that I have owned that are in the game:
- Ghia (there is a hopped up one, but still rather slow)
- Bug (I don't think there is a HP one, but there is a weird mid-engined V8 version from an English racing league we have messed with before)
- 99 Miata (NC?)
And yes, I have historically owned rather low power cars.
Candidates from me (I have done zero research into this):
'94 Miata - prepped for STR
'03 Miata Club Sport - Stock
'02 2.5RS - STS(ish) build
'91 Z32 Slicktop - Stock
'06 S2000 - 9" wheels/CR front bar
'13 BRZ - Spec(ish) twins
'19 Turbo Velsoter
'71 and '74 Plymouth Valiant - 225ci slant six, 903a 3spd auto, ooooohhhhhhhh yeah
Too Many Saturns in various states of chaos
